In the second concert of its 2024-25 season, YMSO performs works by three of the great European composers. The exhilarating Prelude to Act III from Wagner’s Lohengrin opens the concert before the Orchestra welcomes Czech soloist Kryštof Kohout to perform Mendelssohn’s most popular work, the Violin Concerto in E minor.
After the interval, the young musicians will revel in the jubilant sounds of Dvořák’s Eighth Symphony. Radiating with warmth and vitality, the piece is a celebration of life itself and promises to leave the audience feeling uplifted and inspired.
The Young Musicians Symphony Orchestra (YMSO) is the only symphony orchestra in the UK which provides free orchestral training, performance experience and professional development opportunities to musicians on the threshold of their professional careers.
