A Season’s First for ECO
As part of its educational Close Encounters outreach programme, the ECO has teamed up Dr Bruno Bower, musicologist and composer from Imperial College London to give an introductory course – streamed online – on the music and composers in the ECO’s 2021-22 London season. This exciting new series of nine monthly talks runs from 15 September 2021 to 11 May 2022.
Giovanni Guzzo and the English Chamber Orchestra perform a contrasting selection of works by Stravinsky, Mozart and Schubert.
Stravinsky’s challenging Concerto in D for strings is followed by Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 17, famed for its evocative Andante, performed here by Beatrice Berrut who will be making her debut with the Orchestra.
The final piece in the programme is Schubert’s joyous and tuneful Symphony No. 5.
