Showcasing American music for big band from Basie and Ellington to today’s jazz greats, this special gig forms part of the first-ever European concert tour by Carnegie Hall’s National Youth Jazz Orchestra, directed by renowned trumpeter Sean Jones.

Formed just this year at New York’s Carnegie Hall, and comprising some of America’s most outstanding young jazz musicians aged 16 to 19, the band will showcase American music for big band from Basie and Ellington to today’s jazz greats.

The band will be joined for some classic numbers by one of the world’s preeminent jazz vocalists, five-time Grammy Award winner, Dianne Reeves – compared with Sarah Vaughan and Ella Fitzgerald for her powerful voice and big personality. With her breath-taking virtuosity, improvisational prowess, and unique jazz and R&B stylings, she has received the Grammy Award for best jazz vocal performance for three consecutive recordings: a Grammy first in any vocal category. Featured in George Clooney’s Academy Award-nominated Good Night, and Good Luck, she also won a Grammy for the film’s soundtrack.

Duration: to be confirmed – we will update this page as soon as we have running times. Please do not call the Box Office as they do not have any further information than that currently on our website. Most events last 2 – 2½ hours, evening events generally finishing no later than 10pm Monday to Saturday and 9pm on Sundays.
