Paying homage to the divine poetry of Sufi mystics such as Ibn Arabi and Al-Hallaj, Bachar Zarkan masterfully extends their rich legacy to the work of contemporary poet and literary icon Mahmoud Darwish. Coupling authentic Arabic modes alongside contemporary Arabic music, Zarkan’s blending of Syrian and Egyptian musical heritage bring a remarkable distinction to the inner musicality of the works.

His astonishing musical agility focuses on the inherent ‘poetic word’ and it’s power to decide the rhythmic structure of the works. Striking a resilient harmony between Sufi heritage and contemporary poetry, it’s a worldwide premier you’ll want to experience first-hand.
