Celebrate spring with uplifting music and song with the orchestra and choir of the John Lewis Partnership, under the direction of Musical Director Mark Jordan and with special guest soloist, mezzo-soprano Melanie Marshall.

Feel the Spirit is full of vivid and expressive arrangements that pay homage to Rutter’s favourite musical traditions: spiritual, madrigal and American songs. Rutter wrote the soloist part especially for mezzo-soprano Melanie Marshall, and the Music Society is delighted to have Melanie perform with the choir and orchestra at this concert.

The orchestral pieces incorporate the music of folk songs to tell the stories of uprising and the beauty of nature and freedom.
