To mark its tenth concert in support of Freedom from Torture, The Doctors’ Orchestra welcomes two stars of the rising generation of virtuosi.
Tianyou Ma, a prize-winner in the 2018 Menuhin Competition in Geneva, and Maxim Calver, a finalist in the 2018 BBC Young Musician Competition, join forces in Brahms’ magisterial Double Concerto for violin and cello.
This is preceded by Berlioz’s rarely played but compelling concert overture King Lear and followed by Elgar’s magnificent First Symphony which, according to the composer, combines “a wide experience of human life with great love and a massive hope in the future.”
