A Season’s First for ECO
As part of its educational Close Encounters outreach programme, the ECO has teamed up Dr Bruno Bower, musicologist and composer from Imperial College London to give an introductory course – streamed online – on the music and composers in the ECO’s 2021-22 London season. This exciting new series of nine monthly talks runs from 15 September 2021 to 11 May 2022.
VOCES8 and the English Chamber Orchestra combine to bring you a unique performance of Bach’s iconic choral masterpiece St John Passion.
First performed in Leipzig nearly 300 years ago, it has become a tradition for the work to be performed each year in the build-up to Easter. From the electrifying opening chorus through to the closing Chorale, the work captivates the audience with its dramatic and emotive depiction of the last days of Christ.
