İdil Biret piano
İdil Biret visits London to present the favourite works of two giants of the romantic era in music, Schumann and Rachmaninov.
The Abegg Variations, one of Schumann’s most performed pieces, the Fantasiestücke, a highly popular and refined set of pieces, and his Toccata, which demands breathtaking virtuosity, invite the listener into Schumann’s vivid, magnificent universe at this concert.
Variations on a Theme of Corelli, Rachmaninov’s final piece for solo piano, and Moments Musicaux, one of his both technically and musically most challenging and profound pieces, are rendered as unique paintings in İdil Biret’s interpretation.
A disciple and successor of legendary masters such as Wilhelm Kempff, Alfred Cortot and Nadia Boulanger, İdil Biret has performed in many countries across the world and she has sold more than 3 million albums worldwide.
