A BBC survey named Wallfisch’ s recording of the Dvořák Cello Concerto the best recording of that work in the past 25 years. Tolibkhon Shakhidi has a long-standing relationship with the MSO and the Orchestra performs his Death of Usurer (recently recorded by the London Symphony Orchestra and Gergiev) and a new work for cello and orchestra written specially for Raphael Wallfisch.
“A more compellingly idiomatic or richly seasoned cello playing than this would be hard to contemplate” (International Record Review).
