Acclaimed British violinist Chloë Hanslip performs Korngold’s Violin Concerto in a concert full of musical tales with snippets of film music, folk song and storytelling.
Korngold’s sweet and lyrical Violin Concerto shows the film music composer at his greatest powers, contrasted with Janáček’s dramatic retelling of Gogol’s Taras Bulba, a story of death and war.
Dvořák’s Ninth Symphony completes the evening with its trademark warmth and much-loved melodies.
The Zurich International Orchestra Series is sponsored by Zurich.
