Blest Pair of Sirens, a setting of words by John Milton, was composed in 1887 and is, along with Jerusalem, Parry’s most popular anthem, while Hodie was Vaughan Williams’ last major choral work, written in 1953-54 and first performed at the Three Choirs Festival in Worcester with the composer, then in his eighties, conducting.
The London Chorus is delighted to welcome Abel Selaocoe to play Elgar’s magnificent Cello Concerto. Abel is an exciting young cellist from South Africa who performs with many leading international orchestras and works regularly with jazz and African musicians.
