Mark Crooks tenor saxophone

This recently formed group comprises four of the UK’s finest jazz musicians who have played and recorded extensively throughout Europe and can be seen performing regularly in London’s jazz venues, both as sidemen and with their own projects.
The Quartet pays tribute to the great saxophone/hammond organ combos of the 1960s, in particular the recordings of Jimmy Smith, Grant Green, Larry Young, Stanley Turrentine and Shirley Scott.
Swinging, straight-ahead jazz, expertly played and thoroughly rinsed in the blues.
Much in demand as both leader and sideman, Mark Crooks works in a wide variety of musical settings including jazz, big band, classical, shows and recording sessions on saxophone and clarinet.
He has performed with artists ranging from Tony Bennett to Sir Simon Rattle, Lady Gaga to Dame Cleo Laine at venues from Ronnie Scott’s in London to the Lincoln Center in New York.
Duration: approx. 2 hours (incl. 30-minute interval)
