Renowned soprano Sumi Jo joins guest baritone Edward Nelson and pianist Malcolm Martineau for an international celebration of song and opera. Their recital spans Vivaldi, Donizetti, Debussy, Bellini, Rossini, and Rodgers & Hammerstein, pairing virtuosic vocal displays with expressive poetry and culminating in memorable solo and ensemble highlights.

Internationally celebrated as one of the greatest bel canto sopranos of her generation, Sumi Jo has captivated audiences for nearly four decades with a voice praised for its shimmering beauty, astonishing agility and emotional depth.

Since her professional debut in Italy in 1986, she has graced the world’s most prestigious stages, including the Metropolitan Opera in New York, Vienna State Opera, Teatro alla Scala in Milan, The Royal Ballet & Opera, Covent Garden, and major concert halls across Europe, Asia and the Americas.

Her wide-ranging repertoire embraces the brilliant coloratura roles of Donizetti, Bellini and Rossini, and her carefully chosen concert and recital programmes reveal her unique artistry and musical curiosity.

“Sumi Jo has won hearts around the world for her thrilling lyric coloratura soprano voice, her artistry and her engaging personality… she demonstrated why her stratospheric upper range, astonishing agility and expressive warmth have made her the highest selling classical singer in the world.” Heather Leviston, Classical Melbourne
