The Down for the Count Swing Orchestra is a big band with strings, performing the greatest hits of the Swing Era. Conducted by pianist/arranger Mike Paul-Smith, who also compères the shows, the Down for the Count Swing Orchestra is renowned for its warm and engaging performances and its musical authenticity. Expect to hear faithful recreations of the great Capitol Studios recordings from Frank Sinatra and Judy Garland, transcriptions of Charlie Parker With Strings classics, original arrangements of jazz standards written by members of the Orchestra, and, in 2026, a celebration of Nat King Cole. Never afraid to try something different, the Orchestra performs soul, Motown, and disco classics in its new show, Voices of Soul, in October 2026.
