Featuring the voices of Juanita Euka, Yuri Morena and Nana Clara Aldrin Quaye with Orchestra Mambo International, on the day that would have been Celia Cruz’s 100th birthday.

After recent London shows celebrating Tito Puente’s centenary (2023) and the 60th anniversary of New York Latin music label Fania Records (2024), AGMP honour another Latin music legend this autumn with a special show celebrating the 100th anniversary of Cuban-born singer, salsa legend, and Latin American icon Celia Cruz.

When she passed away in 2003, the world lost a true original artist, one of the greatest Cuban/Latin American musical icons of all time. Tonight, on what would be her 100th birthday, we celebrate the music of ‘La Reina’ Celia Cruz.

The top UK mambo/salsa ensemble, Orchestra Mambo International, will play the music of Celia Cruz, from 1960s’ classics to her salsa anthems of the 1970s, and some of her later catalogue from the 1990s. They have invited three of the UK and London’s finest salsa and Cuban music vocalists to join them onstage: Juanita Euka (London Afrobeat Collective), Yuri Moreno (Sarabanda) and Nana Clara Aldrin Quaye (Timba Britanica).

Orchestra Mambo International open the night, playing salsa/mambo classics alongside their original music including their singles and previewing new music from their forthcoming debut album.
