The MOBO Award-winning Kairos 4tet saxophonist branches off into trio format to explore standards past and present, plus original compositions with Mercury Prize-nominated Conor Chaplin (bass) and Corrie Dick (drums).

Adam Waldmann saxophone

British Saxophonist/Composer Adam Waldmann has worked with the likes of Alicia Keys, Mark Ronson, Mark Guiliana, Alan Hampton, Paloma Faith, Tinie Tempah, beatbox sensation Shlomo, The Sam Crowe Group, Will Vinson, Animal Husbandry and FinnSilver amongst numerous others. In 2010 Waldmann made the leap to band leader and released Kairos 4tet’s debut Kairos Moment, an album that marked him out as “a powerful new voice in British jazz” (BBC), “ a precociously talented composer and player” (All About Jazz) and as a “young master in the making” (Time Out). Their second release, Statement of Intent was voted no.2 in MOJO Magazine’s albums of the year and led to the MOBO Award for ‘Best Jazz Act’. In 2013 came Everything We Hold, Waldmann’s critically acclaimed song-based collaboration with actor/writer/lyricist Rupert Friend.

Conor Chaplin bass

Conor is best known currently as part of Mercy Prize nominated group Dinosaur, led by trumpeter-composer Laura Jurd, as well as other contemporary original jazz projects including Flying Machines and formerly WorldService Project. Between these regular projects and other one-off occasions he has had the pleasure of touring extensively throughout the UK, North America, Europe and Asia and has been fortunate to perform with diverse artists including Kit Downes, Marius Neset, Thomas Strønen, Bobo Stenson, George Garzone, Billy Cobham, Jacob Collier, Jesse Van Ruller, Iain Ballamy, Julian Siegel, Natalie Williams, Ivo Neame, Tony Tixier, Keyon Harrold, Stan Sulzmann, Bobby Wellins and others.

Corrie Dick drums

At the rhythmic epicentre of a new era of innovative British jazz is Corrie Dick, a multi-award-winning musician and composer lauded for his fluency, touch and euphoric abandon at the drum kit as well as his prolific body of work. He is an essential component of any project lead by Laura Jurd including Mercury Prize-shortlisted Dinosaur; provides the intricate and fluent sick work in the Elliot Galvin Trio; brings intense, free colours to Danish powerhouse bassist Jasper Høiby’s exciting Fellow Creatures; writes deep and spiritual music for Blue-Eyed Hawk; and provides the full spectrum of rhythmic elements for guitar wunderkind Rob Luft’s ensemble. He also leads his 9-piece supergroup Impossible Things, releasing his debut album with the ensemble in November 2015, selling out concerts across the UK ever since.
