The National Symphony Orchestra, under the baton of Rimma Sushanskaya, gives a performance of Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony. This will mark the exact 200th anniversary, to the day, of the first public performance of the Symphony, and the second concert in the NSO’s complete cycle of Beethoven’s symphonies in 2024.
The Ninth Symphony premiered on 7 May 1824 at the Theater am Kärntnertor in Vienna, with the hall packed with an eager and curious audience. It was the composer’s first on-stage appearance in 12 years.
