Young musicians from Dulwich College present a fabulous line-up of different-sized ensembles with a wide-array of musical genres.
Madrigal Choir, which is open to all singers in the school, opens the concert with three songs. The Chamber Orchestra, which features the school’s most experienced string players, follows with a wonderful string piece by Polish composer Grażyna Bacewicz.
The College’s Brass Band gives its first performance at Cadogan Hall this year and the Symphonic Wind Band gives two Year 13 musicians, Bertie Poullis and Henry Rossell, a chance to shine with solo parts.
The Concert Choir features every Year 7 student and opens the second half with three songs inspired by the moon. Rachmaninov’s Second Piano Concerto is one the greatest works in the piano repertoire and final year pianist Elliot Coulson performs the second movement with the Symphony Orchestra, ahead of Bernstein’s Symphonic Dances from West Side Story.
Duration: approx. 1 hour 50 minutes (incl. interval)
