The English Chamber Orchestra performs a special gala concert celebrating the 200th anniversary of Brazil’s declaration of independence from Portugal on 7 September 1822.

Discover the rich musical culture of Brazilian classical music as conductor Neil Thomson guides us through an exciting programme of music by some of the most important Brazilian composers.

‘The pieces performed at this event are wonderful compositions, so colourful, quite magical,’ says Brazilian pianist Sonia Rubinsky. ‘This beautiful event with the English Chamber Orchestra gives Brazilian classical music the attention it deserves. It’s a huge privilege and responsibility, but most of all a huge honour.’
