The sensational productions of Sergei Diaghilev’s Ballets Russes were hugely influential in the history of ballet in the first part of the 20th century, commissioning works from some of the most prominent composers, artists, and costume designers of the day.
London Phoenix Orchestra’s concert presents music from three of their greatest successes: Poulenc’s abstract and chic Les biches, from 1924; Satie’s uproarious surrealist Parade, from 1917, and the first of Stravinsky’s great ballet triptych, The Firebird, from 1910.
Duration: approx. 1 hour 45 minutes (incl. interval)
