Jazz pianist/composer Kate Williams has gained a distinctive reputation as both a writer and performer, and today’s performance will feature jazz standards as well as original tunes from Kate’s most recent CDs.

She has led and recorded various ensembles of her own, ranging from a duo with the late Bobby Wellins (Smoke & Mirrors, 2012), to a septet featuring flautist Gareth Lockrane (Atlas And Vulcana, 2014).

With conductor William Goodchild she co-founded Interplay Series: Bill Evans And The Impressionists, a project featuring new arrangements of Bill Evans tunes alongside works by Ravel and Debussy for trio and orchestra, and in 2016 she formed Four Plus Three, a collaboration between trio and string quartet.

2019 sees the release of a new album Finding Home, with award-winning vocalist Georgia Mancio and Four Plus Three which will be touring the UK this spring/summer with the support of Arts Council England.

Kate is also a member of Chris Biscoe’s Mingus Moves, The Pete Hurt Jazz Orchestra and has worked with numerous names on the UK scene including Stan Sulzmann, Julian Siegel, Nikki Iles and Tina May.
