Pianist and composer Terence Collie has steadily built a reputation as a distinctive voice on the UK jazz scene. Known for his lyrical touch, sophisticated harmonic sensibility, and deep groove, his work bridges contemporary jazz with cinematic and classical influences. Over the last few years, Collie has released a series of critically acclaimed albums, most recently Elements (2025), which brought together a jazz trio, strings, and spoken word in an ambitious suite exploring the natural world. His previous albums, 384,400 (2023) – a quartet album featuring his trio with saxophonist Roberto Manzin – and Reminiscent (2023), a reflective and intimate solo piano recording, also received praise for their originality and emotional depth.

For this special afternoon performance, Terence is joined by two of the UK’s most accomplished jazz musicians: Nick Lenner-Webster on double bass and Chris Nickolls on drums. Both long-time collaborators form a tightly knit, expressive rhythm section that brings Collie’s music vividly to life. The trio’s intuitive interplay, subtle dynamics, and rhythmic invention allow for rich improvisation while staying rooted in strong melodic storytelling.

The set features music from Terence’s last three albums, showcasing a range of moods and textures – from the reflective and spacious to rhythmically driving and harmonically adventurous. Expect thoughtful compositions, memorable themes and emotionally resonant playing throughout. Alongside the original material, the trio present a selection of reimagined jazz standards. These arrangements bring a fresh perspective to familiar tunes, blending respect for tradition with a creative, modern twist.

This performance offers an opportunity to hear a trio at the height of its powers, delivering music that is both deeply personal and widely accessible. For Terence, this concert is a chance to celebrate the evolving journey of his music with an audience in an intimate setting. With new material already in the works for a 2026 release, this show also acts as a bridge between past and future – honouring the path so far while pointing to exciting developments ahead.
