Mariam Batsashvili piano
In 1940, Bartók fled his native Hungary for the USA as World War II ravaged Europe. A happy outcome was a commission by the Boston Symphony Orchestra of the Concerto for Orchestra, a work that places the orchestra centre-stage through a joyful celebration of music.
Kodály’s exquisite miniatures, Dances of Galánta, are imbued with Hungarian folk music and Liszt Piano Competition Winner and BBC Young Generation Artist Mariam Batsashvili performs Liszt’s poetic and dramatic Piano Concerto No.1.
This concert is kindly supported by the Hungarian Cultural Centre.
