Valery Gergiev brings his prized Mariinsky Orchestra to Cadogan Hall for a pair of concerts celebrating the best upcoming talent and marking the 150th anniversary of Berlioz’s death. Each date features a different soloist winner from the prestigious XVI International Tchaikovsky Competition of which Gergiev is Co-Chair.

This programme highlights the dramatic capabilities of the Mariinsky Orchestra, with excerpts from Rimsky-Korsakov’s Mlada and a full performance of his ode to the life of the artist and unrequited love, Symphonie fantastique.

‘The depth of sound from the Mariinsky players… was almost edible. Sometimes Russians just do it better.’ (The Times)
