Wimbledon Choral’s performance of Haydn’s Nelson Mass offers an opportunity to experience one of the composer’s most powerful and dramatic works. It is one of the six masses Haydn written near the end of his life which are seen as a culmination of his composition of liturgical music.
With its soaring choral parts, striking orchestration and stirring vocal solos, Nelson Mass captures the awe-inspiring blend of devotion and triumph.
Wimbledon Choral is over 100 years old, founded during the First World War. Today it is a modern, dynamic group of singers keeping its reputation as one of the finest amateur symphonic choirs in the southeast.
‘The Wimbledon Choral Society make a lovely sound – clean, clear and bright.’ (Anna Pickard, The Times)
