The Young Musicians Symphony Orchestra continue its season at Cadogan Hall with conductor James Blair and award-winning soprano Lorna McLean in an all-Wagner programme, exploring some of the most powerful moments from the composer’s operatic masterpieces.
The concert begins with the Overture to Tannhäuser, where noble chorales and surging drama set the tone for the evening. This is followed by the Prelude and Liebestod from Tristan und Isolde, music of extraordinary intensity and longing that remains among Wagner’s most profound creations.
The second half is devoted to scenes from Götterdämmerung, the monumental conclusion to the Ring cycle. Siegfried’s Rhine Journey unfolds with grandeur, while Siegfried’s Funeral Music brings solemn weight and tragedy.
The evening culminates in Brünnhilde’s Immolation scene, a blazing and transcendent finale that brings Wagner’s epic saga to its dramatic and emotional close.
