Royal Choral Society and the London Philharmonic Orchestra mark the 100th anniversary of the Great War Armistice with a concert of music and poetry that signifies ‘Remembrance’ for this national day of commemoration.
The programme includes Vaughan Williams’ impassioned Dona Nobis Pacem, set to evocative texts by Walt Whitman, and Elgar’s Enigma Variations. Actor Paul McGann (Withnail & I, Doctor Who), who came to fame in the title role of First World War TV drama The Monocled Mutineer, will read a selection of poignant First World War poetry.
This performance is in aid of Combat Stress, the charity helping former servicemen and women deal with trauma-related mental health problems.
