10 November marks the eve of the centenary of Armistice Day in 1918.
This iconic work was written for the consecration in 1962 of the new Coventry Cathedral, built to replace the mediaeval building destroyed by bombing in the Second World War.
Poems by Wilfred Owen, himself a soldier decorated for bravery, and killed shortly before the end of the war, are embedded in the ancient texts of the Latin Requiem Mass. It is a mighty plea for peace, a great challenge to all who perform it, but also a wonderful experience, as it is also for those who listen.
