Mendelssohn himself banned his Fifth Symphony from being performed and wanted it destroyed. Which would be a terrible advert for it if he hadn’t been so completely, utterly, wrong. It’s a superbly crafted piece of music: grand, intellectual and remarkably human.
Of Mozart’s 27 piano concertos, number 21 is probably both the most well-known and the most technically challenging. And with good reason – written on a symphonic scale, it’s bursting with tunes and opera-like wit.

Most events last 2 – 2½ hours, evening events generally finishing no later than 10pm Monday to Saturday and 9pm on Sundays.

At the London Chamber Orchestra we like to encourage you, the audience, to ‘hear things differently’. It’s a mission we first embarked upon almost a century ago, and our 2018-2019 season is no different.
We’ve got things you won’t have heard before, such as UK premieres, narrator debuts, and a programme where Italian baroque meets Argentinian tango. There’s also plenty that will be familiar – pieces by the biggest names in music and of course our Music Director Christopher Warren-Green conducting top international soloists.
