This lecture will explore one of the most influential compositions ever written, and why it came to occupy a central place in Western culture. Mark will illustrate Wagner’s musical language from the piano and place the work in its historical context, drawing on performances by some of the great interpreters of the past. Suitable for Wagnerians and Wagner-doubters alike.
