The prize-winning Amatis Piano Trio, current BBC Radio 3 New Generation Artists, makes its Proms debut with chamber works by husband-and-wife composers Robert and Clara Schumann. The climax is Clara Schumann’s Piano Trio: one of her finest works, it combines lyrical themes with new contrapuntal invention and scope.
The programme also includes Clara’s Three Romances for violin and piano, composed for virtuoso Joseph Joachim, as well as Robert’s attractive Adagio and Allegro for cello and piano, its wistful slow movement giving way to an energetic Allegro.
Duration: approx. 1 hour (no interval)
