Wimbledon Choral is widely regarded as one of the finest amateur choirs in Southeast England and performs repertoire that embraces traditional works alongside contemporary music. Under Neil Ferris’ inspiring musical direction, they perform regularly with professional orchestras and soloists in major concert venues in and around London.

Tonight’s programme includes Fauré’s serene and comforting Requiem. Fauré wrote of the work: ‘Everything I managed to entertain by way of religious illusion I put into my Requiem, which moreover is dominated from beginning to end by a very human feeling of faith in eternal rest.’

Together with Mirror of Perfection, seven poems by St Frances of Assisi set to music by Richard Blackford – one of the UK’s leading composers – this promises to be an evening of wonderfully uplifting choral music.

‘Wimbledon Choral, one of the most enterprising amateur choirs in the south-east of England, acquit themselves with aplomb…’ (Choir & Organ, June 2023)

Duration: approx. 2 hours (incl. interval)
