BOOKING OPENS FRIDAY 30 OCTOBER, 10AM.

Kurt Elling returns to Cadogan Hall with Chicago Nights – an evening rooted in the clubs where he found his voice, and the city that still shapes the way he sings.

Long before the Grammys and the great concert halls, Kurt was learning his craft in Chicago clubs like The Green Mill, in a scene where individuality mattered, musicians pushed each other, and no two nights were ever the same. That spirit runs through this concert: classic repertoire and modern jazz, spontaneous improvisation and the storytelling he’s known for.

He brings a band of fine players with him – Julius Rodriguez on piano, Clark Sommers on bass and Marcus Finnie on drums, with saxophone TBA.

A two-time Grammy-winning vocalist, Elling, with a rich, unmistakable sound, blends beat-inspired lyricism, inventive vocalese, and compelling musical storytelling; the Chicago-based singer has spent more than three decades expanding what jazz singing can be – and what it can say.

“A kind of Sinatra with superpowers” The Guardian

“In Kurt Elling’s art, the voice of jazz gives new spiritual presence to the ancient, sweet and powerful bond between poetry and music.” Robert Pinsky, former US Poet Laureate
