Mozart’s Requiem is undoubtedly one of the most outstanding and memorable oratorios ever written. Mozart famously died during the composition process, and the spirit of the dying man lives through this work: brilliant, vivacious, at peace yet fearful of what was to come.
The Requiem is paired with a less well-known but wonderfully buoyant setting of Dixit Dominus by Marianna Martines, an eminent contemporary of Mozart.
The programme is rounded off with Mozart’s spirited settings of the Marian antiphon Regina coeli and the Divertimento in D major for strings.
Led by Harry Bradford, a prize-winning conductor and choral director, Thames Philharmonic Choir is a vibrant and musically ambitious amateur choir based in South West London.
The Choir is joined by the Beaufoy Sinfonia, many of whose players are recent graduates of the major London conservatories as well as a team of exciting young soloists.
