Jazz vocalist and composer Sarah L. King brings a world-class quartet to Cadogan Hall to share a special show of her favourite vocal jazz standards and some soulful original songs from her highly acclaimed, newly released album, The Light Ahead.
Sarah mixes influences of soul, singer-songwriter and R’n’B in her original songs with her sophisticated lyrics and clear-toned vocals. But she’s also no stranger to the swingin’ vocal standards and has a natural ability to communicate and imbue emotion in everything she sings, with her gift for phrasing and ear for harmonies.
Both of King’s highly-acclaimed albums Fire Horse (2024), and The Light Ahead (2026) (both produced by Claire Martin OBE), feature regularly on BBC Radio London, BBC Radio 3, and Jazz FM. After her sold-out debut at London Jazz Festival 2025, King is touring London with her current album trio, before heading to Sweden for an autumn 2026 tour.
Barry Green is a professor of Jazz Piano at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. He has been playing on the international jazz scene for 25 years. He lives between London and Rotterdam and regularly plays in clubs and festivals across the UK and Europe with musicians such as Ian Shaw, Toni Kofi, Alan Barnes, Elaine Delmar, and Brigitte Beraha, to name a few.
London-based Jakub Cywiński is an accomplished Polish double bass player and composer who collaborates with contemporary composers and jazz musicians such as Ola Onabule, Marco Marconi, Partikel, Duncan Eagles Quartet, among others. A graduate of the Royal College of Music, his varied freelance career has taken him to India, Russia, Lebanon and other places around the world.
Eric Ford is an acclaimed UK-based jazz and fusion drummer, renowned for his inventive, muscular, and melodic approach to contemporary percussion. Critically praised by major publications, he is a highly versatile performer that has contributed to over 50 album releases. His performance credits span legendary events and spaces such as the China Drum Summit in Beijing as well as Ronnie Scotts, Abbey Road studios, and the Royal Albert Hall.
“Sarah L. King has a voice to luxuriate in; intimate, expressive and beautifully nuanced and able to engage the listener with her soft and velvety voice that can be as equally tough and compelling and a natural storyteller.” Nick Lea, Jazz Views
