Literary Chelsea – A Celebration through Words and Music.

‘Few would venture to Chelsea, unarmed and unattended,’ wrote Charles Dickens in his 1841 novel Barnaby Rudge. It was certainly a different time, but the bohemian feel and reasonable rents (because of the prevalence of highwaymen) attracted huge numbers of writers and musicians to Chelsea.

Tonight, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra is joined by special guest Helena Bonham Carter for a celebration of the unique surroundings of Cadogan Hall. Hear words written in and about Chelsea from authors including A.A. Milne, Jane Austin, J.R.R. Tolkien and Oscar Wilde, alongside a selection of music from Handel, Haydn, Florence Price, Ravel, Vaughan Williams and more.
