What is more personal, more intimate, than a diary? Throughout history and across cultures, people from all walks of life have kept diaries. In this unique event, bestselling author of Letters of Note, Shaun Usher, brings Diaries of Note to the stage – a celebration of the written self, featuring special guests reading and reflecting on extraordinary entries that span centuries.
Joined by Louise Brealey and Matt Berry, with more special guests to be announced, these remarkable voices will bring the words to life on stage – with entries from world leaders like Nelson Mandela and Theodore Roosevelt, to artists and writers such as Frida Kahlo, Seamus Heaney and Shirley Jackson, and icons including Brian Eno, Emma Thompson and Elton John – alongside those whose names were never famous, but whose words resonate just as powerfully.
Following the success of Letters of Note and Speeches of Note, this live experience offers a moving, funny and illuminating glimpse into private moments made public.
Curated with care and devoted to the power of personal reflection, the evening also invites audience members to submit their own diary entries – some of which may be featured in the show or in future collections.
Recommended age: 16+
Duration: approx. 1 hour 50 mins (incl. interval)
