The ever-versatile and always entertaining vocal ensemble VOCES8 celebrates the extraordinary breadth and variety of the human voice.
Taking its title from the final invitation of ‘Come Fly with Me’, made famous by Frank Sinatra, Let’s Fly Away is an exhilarating ride. Spanning over five centuries of music, the programme moves freely between sacred polyphony and jazz standards, romantic choral writing and contemporary song, folk tunes and pop classics. The radiant sonorities of Byrd, Palestrina and Bruckner sit next to the searching lyricism of Arvo Pärt and Paul Smith, and the timeless sophistication of Rodgers and Hart complements the big-hearted warmth of Ben Folds, Bobby McFerrin and Simon & Garfunkel.
VOCES8 are famed for their verve and versatility; appropriately for the world’s top-streaming classical vocal group, this is a live concert of their extensive mixed repertoire – joyful, reflective, intimate and exuberant.
