Choral at Cadogan 2019-20
Choral at Cadogan prides itself on presenting some of the finest choral ensembles from the UK and around the world.
I’m delighted that this series is hosting the UK debuts of two international groups. In February, we welcome Cupertinos from Portugal – a young, dynamic ensemble whose raison d’être is to promote the rich wonders of 16th- and 17th-century Portuguese polyphony. In March, we hear the Danish National Vocal Ensemble which will treat us to some exquisite, lesser-known treasures from Denmark.
Following their successful series debut last year, The Gesualdo Six return with a programme of madrigals. The Cardinall’s Musick performs a beautiful programme exploring powerful music written by composers influenced by different religious traditions. Westminster Cathedral Choir and The Sixteen present beautiful Advent programmes in December full of works guaranteed to get you into the festive spirit.
The Tallis Scholars bookend the series showcasing two Renaissance masters: Tallis and Palestrina. We look forward to the opportunity to delve into the minds and experience the magnitude of these composers. Of course, no programme dedicated entirely to Tallis would be complete without a performance of his renowned 40-part motet Spem in alium – a spectacle in itself.
As always, I look forward to welcoming you to our series.
